Travel Back in Time to Barneveld

Barneveld, located in the rolling hills of Iowa County, was extensively damaged in 1984 by a F5 tornado. The town’s name has (at least) two popular theories. The first is that the town’s surveyor for the railroad named it after his hometown in the Netherlands. More poetically, the second theory posits that a local resident, Mrs. Simpson, named it for her favorite poet, a Mr. Barneveldt. All images are from Barneveld Public Library. Which can be seen in this collection here.
