Travel Back in Time to Holmen

Holmen, founded largely by Norwegian immigrants, is nestled in the bluffs of La Crosse County. While it is possible that Holmen was named for an Indiana state senator, it is perhaps more appealing to believe it was named after the Norwegian word, holm, a projection or low, level, rich land extending into the water.
