A Mission and a Vision for Recollection Wisconsin

Recollection Wisconsin has been connecting cultural heritage institutions and their digital materials statewide since 2013, first as Wisconsin Heritage Online and then as Recollection Wisconsin. Although the consortium was founded on and has operated with the ideals of collaboration, service, and access, we’ve not had formal mission and vision statements in that time. One of Recollection Wisconsin’s strategic initiatives for this biennium (2023-2025), especially with the stability of the state funding, was to formalize these core pieces of Recollection Wisconsin’s identity by drafting a mission statement, vision statement, and values. Created by a small working group made up of members of Recollection Wisconsin’s governing bodies, and approved by the Recollection Wisconsin’s Governing Board and Steering Committee, we are pleased to share our mission and vision statements with you.

Our mission statement makes clear Recollection Wisconsin’s commitment to the cultural heritage community throughout the state, and our vision statement provides clear direction for how we can continue to serve that community into the future. Many thanks to the Recollection Wisconsin governing bodies, not only for their engagement with this process, but for guiding the consortium with these principles in mind since 2013. We are hard at work on formalizing Recollection Wisconsin’s values, and will share those soon.
