Recollection Wisconsin Goes Fee-Free!

Counting Pennies,
South Wood County Historical Museum.

Recollection Wisconsin has made the significant decision to eliminate all onboarding fees, hosting fees, and harvesting fees for all incoming and current content partners. This move is a leap toward increased accessibility and showcases our commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive digital collections platform. The decision is also aligned with Recollection Wisconsin’s work in amplifying collections that reflect the full spectrum of Wisconsin’s cultural heritage.

Recollection Wisconsin has always kept fees minimal to encourage participation from content partners and contributors of all sizes. However, thanks to the forward-thinking decision by the state of Wisconsin legislature to allocate funding for Recollection Wisconsin’s services in the 2023-2025 biennial budget, the platform is now able to waive all fees and provide services to the state’s cultural and historical heritage institutions free of charge to contributors. Furthermore, Recollection Wisconsin pledges to continue this fee-free arrangement as long as the state budget funds our services.

We hope that this change encourages all archives, libraries, museums, and organizations to actively participate in building a collective digital narrative that truly represents the diverse and dynamic history of Wisconsin.

As we celebrate this decision to go fee-free, we look forward to shepherding Recollection Wisconsin’s continued growth, made possible by the visionary support of the state of Wisconsin.
