2018 Students

Jessica Behrman

Jessica Behrman Jessica discovered her love for the world of library science while studying at Southern Illinois University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in speech communication. There, she had the opportunity to work in preservation and cataloging at Morris Library. Afterward, while living in Idaho, she decided to segue into another interest of hers: massage therapy. Jessica was a massage therapist for seven years before enrolling in the iSchool at UW-Madison to finally pursue a master’s in library and information studies and is looking forward to learning more about digital preservation and digital collection management.

Cameron Fontaine

Cameron Fontaine I graduated from UW-Milwaukee with degrees in History and Art history. While working on a master’s degree in art history I started an internship in the Special Collections department of the UWM library. The work was so engaging and rewarding that I decided I needed to pursue a degree in Library and Information Science. Since joining the program at UW-Milwaukee, I have concentrated on archival studies and digitization/preservation.

Outside of the library, I enjoy reading, writing, listening to music, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and podcasting. I also collect records, something that like many fellow vintage minded Millennials began with finding my parents record collection in the basement and saying “Hey can I have these since you clearly aren’t using them any more?” Since then it has spiraled into something of an obsession. I guess it’s safe to say that, having been an avid collector of many things all my life, managing and preserving collections is something I’ve always wanted to do.

Jodi Kiffmeyer

Jodi Kiffmeyer I’m a student at UW-Madison iSchool, just finishing my second semester. Through the course of my studies, I’ve developed an interest in helping public libraries work with their communities to create digital archives. I’d love to be able to take the skills I gain this summer and transfer them to the public library in northern Wisconsin where I’ve worked for the past four years. My husband and I have three children, and I have two cats. In my spare time, I like to read, play cello, research my family history, and collect fountain pens.

As an elementary school student, I enjoyed field trips to the Pioneer Village Museum, which is where I’ll be completing the CCDC practicum this summer. My family has been in Barron County for six generations, so I’m excited to team up with the Barron County Historical Society to preserve their digital archives and make some of my own history accessible to people around the world.

Sarah Lange

Sarah Lange A UW-Madison iSchool student and lifelong Wisconsinite, Sarah is interested in curation, preservation and outreach as well as the intersection of libraries, archives and museums. She’s currently working in Special Collections at Memorial Library and coordinating an oral history project focused on the book arts at the UW. In between jobs and classes, she enjoys practicing yoga, hiking in state and national parks, and walking her dog along Lake Monona.

Steve Moray

Steve MorayI am a second-year graduate student in the Coordinated MA History/MLIS program at UW-Milwaukee, concentrating in Archives. I have a BA in History and a BS in Archaeology from Michigan Technological University and worked as an archaeologist in the private sector before coming to UWM. I am interested in archival projects that focus on historical and genealogical research, and I am especially interested in the role digitization plays in increasing access and preservation of historical materials so that local communities have the opportunity to explore and interact with their cultural heritage. Originally from Michigan, I currently live in Shorewood with my cat B’alam (“Jaguar” in Mayan). In my spare time I enjoy researching my own family history, cooking, photography, and exploring the outdoors.

Kristina Warner

Kristina Warner Kristina resides in Madison with her husband, Lucas, and their three ridiculously spoiled cats: Athena, Tietjens and Fitzgerald. In 2015, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, Printmaking and Books Arts. Currently, she is in her second year at the Information School at UW-Madison. She stays busy between her two jobs as an archivist assistant at the University Archives and Wisconsin Historical Society. This upcoming year, she will also be the new secretary for the Society of American Archivists-Student Chapter.
